American Board of Therapeutic Fasting and Obesity

We sincerely hope that 'therapeutic fasting' will contribute to the improvement of people's health around the world.

Fasting is known to have various physiological effects such as weight control, energy metabolism improvement, detoxification and inflammation improvement through liver-colorectal function recovery, renal cell rehabilitation through autophagy effect, stress control through endocrine and autonomic nervous system coordination, and prevention of neurodegeneration through ketone body production.

Based on this academic basis, various clinical studies on fasting therapy are being conducted worldwide, and fasting therapy is actively used in the clinical practice of obesity and various diseases in oriental medicine medical institutions centered on the Korean Society of Obesity and International Hospitals such as Buchinger Wilhelmi Clinic.

Currently, the prevalence of obese patients in the United States is high, and problems such as social expenses are continuously being raised. As a result, expectations for the role of korean medicine doctors in the area of prevention and treatment of obesity are increasing, and therefore, it is necessary to establish an education and research support system for the theory and practice of  korean medicine obesity treatment.

In response to this request, the Society of Korean Medicine for Obesity Research decided to fully support the establishment of the American Board of Therapeutic Fasting and Obesity(ABOFO), led by american korean medicine doctors, and with your passion and help, the ABOFO was finally established in November 2022.

The mission of the ABOFO shall be
